Hi, my name is Krystyn (pronounced Christine) Schmidt, MA LIMHP LADC (she/her/hers). I am a Nebraska native, however spent some years in Arizona soaking up the heat, and starting grad school; before returning and completing my Masters degree at Doane College. In my career as a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings, which has created my style and areas of specialization. Before moving full time into private practice; I worked at Counseling and Psychological Services at UNL. I was a member of the Eating Disorder and Cultural Competency Teams, created and developed the case management program and engaged in extensive crisis work. My work as the Director of Psychological Health for the Nebraska Army National Guard, developed my heart and passion for military members and their families. I have worked for multiple years with individuals experiencing issues related to substance use, trauma, anxiety, depression and life transitions. More recently, my awareness and experience has branched into understanding, teaching and counseling those experiencing compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma and postpartum and infertility issues.
My approach to therapy is laid back and relaxed, but also professional and direct. I utilize a variety of counseling theories, particularly strength-based and holistic approaches and I am trained in EMDR. I look forward to hearing your story and working collaboratively to best meet your needs.
